David Unsworth Grasmere photographer and his 8" x 10" camera, above Wastwater on the slopes of Great Gable. A 35kg rucksack, a night out just below the summit, all for a photo which in the event he didn't actually get. This one of him not getting it is 'Rückenfigur', a Romantical chap (with or without Rucksack) gazing out over the cloudy scene. See Caspar David Friedrich picture here but ignore the stuff about Norman Rockwell.
... Also note how the trite device of walker looking out at the view becomes High Art with the aid of a German expression, especially one with an umlaut involved. At least the Ruckenfellow this time isn't me from behind with the 10-second timer, which is who it usually is.
