From Barra to Bass Rock, Scotland's islands are amazingly varied; and each of them is weird in its own way. Skye, Rum, Mull and Arran (along with Ardnamurchan on the mainland, Antrim, and Lundy down in the Bristol Channel) form the Tertiary Volcanic Province, their gabbro, basalt and granite quite different from all the rest of the UK.
